World War I Draft Registions
Pickens County, Georgia
Family Historians of the twenty-first century will find that the World War I Draft Registration cards are a vital resource. All of the draft registration cards for the entire United States and her territories are located at the National Archives–Southeast Region, East Point, Georgia. The cards have also been microfilmed and are available are various NARA regional facilities and the Family History Library. The film for Pickens County, Georgia, is available at the Pickens County Library in Jasper.
Please be advised that some of the men from Pickens County found it easier to travel to an adjoining county to register. For example several men from Clipper and Talking Rock are found within the Gilmer County draft board.
The following is a list of men from Pickens County, Georgia, who registered for one of the three draft registrations are indexed below. The cards contain a considerable amount of information, so don’t stop here—locate the original record at the National Archives–Southeast Region, or view the record on microfilm.
